Placer County’s largest retail destination, Roseville Galleria, reopened for in-mall shopping on May 22 following a two-month long closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Roseville Area Chamber of Commerce said the entire region had been eagerly anticipating the premier shopping mall to reopen for business.

Shopping at the Roseville Galleria looked a little different, however. About half the stores welcomed customers on the first day of reopening.

Shoppers will notice an increased frequency of cleaning, monitored capacity-control inside stores, social distancing measures, and more hand sanitizing and handwashing stations.

The opening comes on the heels of the county moving into phase 2 of restarting the economy.

Dine-in restaurants and going beyond curbside pickups are included in this phase.

Business leaders say the reopening marks an important step in the right direction economically. Sales from the Roseville Galleria are major sales tax contributors for the region.

The mall opened under modified hours, 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.
